Born in 1996 in Tehran, Iran, Kimia Nasirian now lives in Brussels. As a multidisciplinary artist working with installation, performance, sculpture, video, and sound, Kimia’s artworks focus on memory, individual mythology, and religious and traditional rituals in the Middle East.
Throughout her career, Kimia has drawn on personal and collective narratives to create works that challenge the functionality of human memory in political and social movements. By using her body and traditional gestures and ceremonies, she questions how memory shapes our understanding of these movements.
Since October 2022, she has co-founded the M-A performance collective in Brussels, aiming to raise awareness about the situation of Iranian women through performance art.
Kimia received her Bachelor of Design from the University of Strasbourg and completed her Master in Sculpture from ENSAV La Cambre in Brussels. She is also part of the Identity Performer Nomade project and has exhibited and performed in galleries and museums across Europe and the Middle East.
